Camilla Whitehead founded Camilla's Nannies with a simple ethos of providing uncompromised childcare to discerning parents in a busy modern day environment. Camilla is a British former nanny with experience of working in Switzerland, Barbados and Argentina having followed a rather unconventional path to becoming a nanny!
Camilla graduated from Newcastle University with a BA (Hons) Law and Accounting degree before taking the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice and then heading to the City to work at Goldman Sachs for four years. Throughout this time though Camilla maintained her lifelong passion for babies and children leading her to become a Volunteer Counsellor with the UK children’s charity Childline in her spare time as well as acting as a Committee member for several Childline London Special Events. It was the counselling work where Camilla's heart lay and it gave her invaluable experience and direct contact with children experiencing a broad range of problems. Having already had experience in her teenage years of volunteering at a Thai orphanage simply to spend time playing with the babies, helping to bathe, change and feed them it seemed logical that the next step was to work in childcare.
A love of travel led Camilla to working as a ski nanny for two winter seasons in Verbier, Switzerland before undertaking a high profile nanny contract in Argentina working for Valeria Mazza, one of the most successful and prominent international models from South America. This challenging role involved frequent international travel and having four charges under her care with the responsibility of developing the children’s English language skills. Camilla decided to utilise her experience and wide circle of contacts to set up her own modern nanny placement service with an unprecedented focus on the continuing skills and well being of the nanny to benefit the nanny, family and most importantly the children involved.
