Your new School
This mixed 11-18 comprehensive school is managed by the Newport local authority. Currently, it has over 1,000 pupils on roll of which the majority come from Newport City. Around 10% of the pupils are eligible for free school meals which is much lower than the national average. This is a well performing school, with nearly all pupils achieving at least 5 qualifications equivalent to GCSE grades A*-C. Pupils have very positive attitudes towards the school and are engaged fully in their learning. Pupil wellbeing is a high priority and there is excellent provision to support the needs of the pupils. Leadership in the school is excellent and the head teacher has a clear vision for the continuous development of the school. The governing body also works effectively with the school, holding them to account effectively.

Your new role
You will be providing invaluable support to the Science Department.
Your responsibilities will include the preparation of materials and equipment for science lessons, providing direct support to teaching staff and pupils during lessons. You will also be responsible for the disposal of waste materials, the collection of apparatus and chemicals from storage, risk assessments and the preparation of solutions. Your role ensures the effective delivery of the scientific curriculum to all pupils.

What you'll need to succeed
As an applicant to this post, you will benefit from relevant previous experience and familiarity with the handling of chemicals and scientific equipment. A good understanding of laboratory safety and a scientific background or qualifications is essential.

What you'll get in return
After an initial qualifying temporary period, there is the opportunity to obtain a permanent role within the school. You will be offered an initial hourly rate of £9.78 with the opportunity for future promotion.
